Small Group Counseling
John Young Elementary School is offering students the opportunity to participate in a variety of support and growth groups. Small groups such as these have proven to be an excellent way for students to have more academic success, learn new skills, develop self-confidence and learn to cope with various situations that life presents.
During the school year your son or daughter will have the opportunity to participate in a small group session with the school counselor. Small groups generally meet for about 6-8 weeks for 30 minutes a week. When scheduling meeting days and times, every attempt is made to create the least amount of interference with the academic day.
Please understand that participation in the group is completely voluntary and student confidentiality is addressed and respected. The exception to this is my legal and ethical responsibility to take appropriate action in the case of an individual intending to do harm to self or others: if abuse or neglect is suspected, or if illegal activity is reported to me.
